We are proud to partner with our sister facility, Bluegrass Community Hospital, in Versailles to provide Swing Bed care services.  Bluegrass is one of only a few hospitals in the Central Kentucky region to be licensed in Swing Bed care, a program designed for patients who need extra time to heal.

About Swing Bed Services at Bluegrass Community Hospital

Despite the image created by the name, a "swing bed' is not a hammock or a bed suspended in any way. A swing bed program is designed to serve those individuals who are in a transition phase of illness or recovery until discharged. It is used for a second level of medically-supervised care, and is specially designed to fill the gap between the patient's hospital stay and going home. Patients may qualify for the program if they have been in a hospital in acute care for three days and require further skilled services, such as:

• Extended wound care needs
• Acute/sub-acute rehabilitation (Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy)
• Extended IV Therapy/Antibiotic Therapy
• Respiratory Therapy
• Discharge/Teaching Needs

Under the attending physician’s guidance, all care will be rendered in a personalized manner to meet each patient’s psychological, physiological, sociological and spiritual needs.
